Refund policy

At Taranest, every artwork — whether an original painting or a fine-art print — is created with care, intention, and professional craftsmanship. Because artworks are unique, delicate, and often limited-edition, our return and refund terms differ from standard retail policies.
This policy explains exactly how returns, exchanges, damages, and cancellations are handled.


1. Applicability of This Policy

This Return & Refund Policy applies to all purchases made on taranest.com, including:

  • Original paintings

  • Fine-art prints

  • Limited-edition works

  • Signed or numbered editions

It does not apply to commissions, custom orders, or any artwork made to personal specifications.


2. Original Paintings — Return Policy

Because original artworks are one-of-a-kind pieces, returns for original paintings are handled differently.

Original paintings are non-returnable and non-refundable, unless:

  • The artwork arrives damaged in transit

  • The wrong artwork has been delivered

  • The artwork significantly differs from the product description or imagery (extremely rare)

If any issue occurs, you must notify us within 7 days of delivery with clear photos.

Why originals are non-returnable:
Each painting is a unique artwork; once shipped and unboxed, it cannot be resold or guaranteed as “new” for collectors.


3. Prints (Open or Limited Edition) — Return Policy

Fine-art prints may be returned within 14 days of delivery, only if:

  • The print is unopened, unused, and in perfect condition

  • The protective packaging (tube, wrapping, backing board, etc.) is fully intact

  • The print has not been exposed to light, humidity, fingerprints, or rolled/unrolled multiple times

Prints that cannot be returned:

  • Prints that were unrolled or handled improperly

  • Opened prints with dents, creases, smudges, or scratches

  • Prints that have been framed, mounted, or altered

  • Limited editions once the hologram, signature, or numbering is compromised

  • Sale items or discounted editions


4. Damaged or Incorrect Items

We take great care in packaging artworks professionally.
However, if your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or defective:

You must contact us within 7 days of delivery with:

  • Order number

  • Clear photos of the packaging

  • Clear photos of the damage to the artwork

  • Clear photo of the shipping label

After reviewing the case, we will:

  • Replace the print (if in stock)

  • Offer store credit

  • Issue a full refund for damages we are responsible for

  • For original paintings: provide a full refund if damage occurred in transit

If damage is caused by improper opening or mishandling after delivery, we cannot issue a refund or replacement.


5. How to Start a Return for Prints

To initiate a print return:

  1. Email us at info(at-sign)taranest.com within 14 days.

  2. Include your order number and reason for return.

  3. Wait for our return approval and return instructions.

  4. Return the print using secure, original packaging.

  5. Once received and inspected, we will notify you regarding the refund approval.

Return shipping is the responsibility of the customer, unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.

We strongly recommend using a tracked & insured shipping method, as we cannot refund lost or unreturned items.


6. Refunds

Once we receive the returned print and verify it is in perfect condition:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method

  • Processing time is 5–10 business days

  • You will receive a confirmation email once the refund is approved

Refunds will not be issued for prints showing signs of use, handling, or damage.


7. Cancellations & Order Changes

  • You may request to cancel or change your order before it has shipped.

  • Once the order is dispatched, cancellation is no longer possible.

  • Original artworks cannot be cancelled once packaging preparation has begun.


8. Custom Commissions (If Offered)

Custom paintings or personalized prints are:

  • Non-returnable

  • Non-refundable

  • Non-cancellable once the work has begun


9. Shipping Issues

If the shipping carrier misplaces, delays, or loses an order:

  • We will assist in the investigation

  • Replacements for prints will be issued if possible

  • For originals, a full refund will be issued only after the carrier’s claim process is complete


10. EU Consumer Rights

Because Taranest is based in the Netherlands and ships worldwide:

  • EU customers have legal rights regarding online purchases

  • However, these rights allow exceptions for artworks and personalized goods

  • Our policy stays fully compliant with applicable EU regulations for art and limited-edition items
